

Robert L. George, 79 year-old resident of Choctaw, OK, passed away January 20, 2014 at his home. Born September 27, 1934 in Joplin, Missouri he was the son of Louis George and Gladys Clancy George. Robert was a longtime employee at Tinker Air Force Base and finished as a flight scheduler for the AWACS planes. He was an avid OU Football Fan, loved the Andy Griffith Show, performed skits during Vacation Bible School, and delighted in “Nicknaming” his entire family. Robert was known as “Old Mess” at Choctaw Road Church of Christ where he a member, Deacon, and the Official Greeter. Robert’s was head of the I.B.C. Ministry for 20 years that sends Bibles and Lessons to Africa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Viola George of the home; 1 son, Kenny and his wife Laura George of Midwest City, OK; 1 daughter, Wanda and husband Dave Walters of Wellston, OK; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Choctaw Road Church of Christ with Mr. Marty Kessler officiating. Burial will follow in Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, OK.
