

Robert Clayton Lambert Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 24, 2016 at 8:24 pm in Oklahoma City. Robert was born on September 3, 1926 to Bessie Joyner and Arthur Lambert in Selma, Alabama. After finishing high school in 1944, he joined the United States Navy. He was serving aboard the U.S.S. Houston when the ship was torpedoed in the Pacific during World War II, and was one of the 200 men who stayed aboard the ship to enable its return to dock at Brooklyn Navel Yard in 1945. While continuing his service in the United States Navy, he met the love of his life, Barbara McKnight, when they were introduced by a mutual friend in an ice cream shop in 1947. They married the next year on April 12, 1948 and he loved her faithfully for 68 years. After leaving the service in 1949, they moved to El Paso, Texas and started their family. He worked for the Coca Cola Company until their move to California in 1958, where he worked for the United States Postal Service. In 1980, they moved to Oklahoma where he worked in maintenance until his retirement in 2010. During their time in Oklahoma, they became members of Springdale Baptist Church where he served as a deacon from 1986 onward. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, John Joyner, his son Walter Lambert, and his great granddaughter Allysun Lambert. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Lambert, of the home, his daughter Sally Berhalter and husband Raymond of Oklahoma City, son Robert Lambert and wife Ruth of Yukon, son Joseph Lambert and wife Vecy, of Redding, California, and daughter in law Tammy Lambert of Poteau, his twelve grandchildren, Shelley Baker and husband Jeff, Rosalee Murphy and Mike Fruge, Kelly Berhalter, Kathryn Berhalter, Diana Lambert, Robert Lambert and wife Alicia, Stacey Dowdy, Brian Lambert, Joseph Lambert, Jennifer Kyle and husband Matt, Laura Lambert, and Laura Gonzales, his twelve great grandchildren Danielle Baker, Samantha Baker, Brooke Baker, Emilie Fruge, Nichole LaFever and husband Terance, Katelynd Lambert, Parker Presley, Grayson Dowdy, and Addyson Dowdy, his three great great grandchildren, Robert LaFever, and two in Fredrick, Oklahoma, along with countless additional family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 27th, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 N.W. Expressway in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 28th, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Springdale Baptist Church, 3900 N.W. 50th St in Oklahoma City with Dr. Stephen Burke officiating with internment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
