Ruth Ellen Maschino Shoopman

Ruth Ellen Shoopman, 81, went home to Heaven on September 21, 2014. She was born July 1, 1933 in Okarche, OK to Peter and Anna Maschino. She graduated from St. Anthony School of Nursing in 1954 and worked as an RN at St. Anthony Hospital her entire career. She married Leo Shoopman February 19, 1955. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, infant daughter Mary, stepson Kenneth, stepdaughter Linda and eight siblings. Survived by her children, Kathy and Frank Branson, Greg and Darlene Shoopman, Ron Shoopman, Rusty and Tania Shoopman, Les and Carol Shoopman and stepson Danny Shoopman; grandchildren Michael, Christina, Jennifer, Joe, Adam, Patrick, David, Tim, Peter, Allyson, Amanda, Chris and Steven; great-children Preston, Marion, Elizabeth, Logan, Chloe, Emily, Brady, Calvin, Eli and Caleb; and brothers Ed Maschino and Pete and Joan Maschino. Ruth remained faithful and committed to her faith throughout her life. She loved her family dearly and cherished the many times all her family were together. She loved any holiday, but her favorite was Christmas Eve when all her family was able to gather together. She was heavily involved with the Oklahoma County Genealogy Society for many years. She loved to work in the garden, enjoyed cooking and traveling. One of her favorite destinations was Galveston and made many trips there with family over the years. Ruth will be greatly missed, but she has left a legacy of kindness in each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rest in peace, Ruth; you ran the good race. A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, September 24, at 6:00 pm at the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, September 25, at 10:00 am at St. Eugene's Catholic Church.
