Scott Duane Shelton was born March 19, 1954, in Wichita Falls, TX to Duane and Helen Shelton. The family lived in Placentia, CA during Scott’s grade school years and then moved to Colorado where Scott graduated from Wheatridge HS in Denver.
Scott loved all sports and excelled in track, football and baseball. In 9th grade, he broke a long-held record in the discus throw, his record stood for many more years. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University where he majored in music. He played baseball for the OBU Bison and joined the Kappa Kappa Phi fraternity.
By 1977 Scott moved to Oklahoma City and was introduced to Kim Keller by his sister Sherry, while attending the same church. They married in 1982. To this union two boys were born, Tyler and Brett. He was a loving, attentive husband and father. His pride and joy was being BeBop to his only grandchild, Adilyn.
He was a successful sales representative in the freight business for most of his career. He retired in 2016 to enjoy his granddaughter and his newly built vacation home in the Beaver’s Bend area.
For the last 30 years, Scott and Kim have enjoyed the teaching and fellowship at Covenant Community Church in Yukon, OK. The church body surrounded them with all their love and support, while Scott was in the hospital this past month.
Highlights from his life included playing golf, travel, bird hunting, floating in his pool, and landscaping the beautiful backyard. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with great friends and his family.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents Duane and Helen, along with his beloved sister, Paula. He is survived by his spouse, Kim; two loving sons and their wives Tyler (Brittany) and Brett (Isabel and her son Jeremy); and much adored granddaughter, Adilyn. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Sherry (Bob) and brother Bryan (Sherrie). Also, he is survived by two nieces and and seven nephews. He was also honorary BeBop to Maddox.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the love and devotion shown by many friends and family during this time. Special thanks to Stacy Willis for taking me to the hospital every day and staying to help Scott and I.
