Henry Stephen “Steve” Denton was born on September 23,1940 and went home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2025. He was born in Norman, Oklahoma to John Raymond and Versal Adell Denton. He graduated high school in 1958. Between High School and College, he enlisted in the Air Force serving as a Chaplains Assistant in France. He graduated from UCO with a Bachelor of Art degree in 1968 and began his lifelong dream of being a teacher, he taught U.S History and Government. Growing up he traveled the US extensively as his dad was career Air Force.
In his younger years, Steve could be found on the golf course during the weekends or working part time. He enjoyed watching westerns on TV, but he loved racing cars at the OKC Fairgrounds. On Friday nights, Steve and his brother Gene could be found at the racetrack. He was an old car enthusiast and enjoyed restoring them and taking them to car shows, winning several awards for his work. Coffee and Cars was one of his favorite places to go and to the cafe in the mornings.
Above all Steve loved being with his family. He enjoyed the home cooked meals that came with Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations at the home and was particularly fond of pies.
Steve is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna Marie Denton; sisters, Carol Sitcler and Carmen Wright; Children, Ronnie Denton and wife, Anna and Stephen Michael Denton; grandsons, Shane Michael Denton and Casey Allen Denton and wife, Julianne and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Raymond and Versal Adell Denton and his brother, Doyle Gene Denton.
Steve will be greatly missed here on earth but is now at peace in Heaven.
A visitation for Steve will be on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Advantage Funeral Home. Services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 2 pm at Advantage Funeral Home Chapel, located at 7720 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
