🌸 Susan Ray 🌸

Beloved Mother, Adoring Grandmother, and Cherished Friend

Susan Ray, our precious mother and grandmother, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord at her home, surrounded by loved ones, on November 6, 2025.

Born on January 27, 1944, in Chandler, OK, to Herman and Eula Heinze. Susan found profound joy in a wide range of music genres. Her singing filled the sanctuary weekly at Crossings Community Church. She equally enjoyed cultivating her well-manicured garden, a wonderful source of pride that reflected the class and tasteful elegance that permeated every part of life. She loved entertaining in her home, where friends and family gathered to enjoy her gracious hospitality. She delighted in planning family and friendly adventures spanning the globe, where her keen attention to detail was on full display. Beauty and connection were cornerstones of fulfillment throughout her life’s journey.

Susan's intelligence was evident early on when she was awarded valedictorian of her high school class. These talents were further enhanced at her alma mater, Oklahoma State University. She then put her skills to use while serving loyally for 41 years in the Federal and Oklahoma court systems.

Above all, Susan was a devoted parent to her loving children, Chip and Lindsey; a welcoming and proud mother-in-law to Jason, husband of Lindsey; a doting grandmother to her adored grandchildren, Owen and Heston; and a loyal companion to her treasured Robert Shepherd. She was preceded in death by her strong and supportive husband, Edward Ray. Her kindness, unyielding strength, remarkable resilience, wit, subtle wisdom, and consistent faith touched innumerable lives.

Although her absence breaks our hearts, we are profoundly grateful for every cherished moment of joy, support, and connection she has given us.

Mom, thank you for teaching us to live with love, grace, and strength. You will forever bloom in our hearts.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” – John 14:27

A private ceremony will be held in Susan's honor for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association; https://events.alz.org/fundraisers/susanray/in-honor-of-susan-ray.
