Our dearly beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather, was welcomed into heaven on April 19, 2023. He passed peacefully into the arms of his savior at his home in Oklahoma City surrounded by his family.
Van Loyd Officer was born January 24, 1924 in Aurora, Arkansas to Ethan & Gertha Officer. Van served in the Army as a Sergeant in World War II from 1944-1946 and won several metals & awards for his service. He married his wife of 75 years Norma Newton in Shawnee on August 29, 1947. Van & Norma had 3 children & raised their family in Oklahoma City. They attended OKC Faith Church for 70 years and served in the church in many ways. Van was self-employed in the drywall business until he retired in 1986. Van loved playing music with his family & friends and played many instruments. He blessed so many by playing at nursing homes and other functions. He and Norma always raised a garden and had fruit trees & bees. Van loved his family and loved being with all of them.
