Wanda Lee Munch, 84, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior surrounded by family who loved her dearly. Born September 4, 1941, in Oklahoma City to James Lewis and Bessie Marie McDuff, Wanda lived life with faith, love, laughter and music.
She grew up in Oklahoma City, graduated from Classen High School, and on June 10, 1960, married the love of her life, William “Bill” Munch. Together they shared over 65 years of marriage, raising two daughters, Shelly and Kelly, and building a home where faith and family were at the heart of everything.
Wanda loved the simple joys of life: long walks in the park, Italian food, chocolate kisses and beautiful music – especially Andrea Bocelli. She even took piano lessons as a child, and music was always part of her story. But perhaps nothing brought her greater joy than dancing. Wanda loved line dancing with her friends, teaching steps to her Sunday School class, and most of all, dancing with Bill, the love of her life.
Her deep faith was the cornerstone of her life. Wanda was a faithful member of Henderson Hills Baptist Church and Western Oaks Nazarene Church, where she taught Sunday School to young children, leaving a legacy of love and kindness. She lived with a servant’s heart, teaching her children by example to be compassionate and grounded in faith. Wanda had a gift for bringing people together. She was a peacemaker – always striving for harmony and encouraging others to see the best in one another. She also had a quick wit and a great sense of humor, which brought smiles and laughter wherever she went.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Munch; her daughters, Shelly Vreugdenhil and husband Tim of Auburn, Washington, and Kelly Truett of Edmond, Oklahoma; her sister, Dorothy Echols of Tulsa, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Bessie McDuff, and her brother, Donald McDuff.
More than anything, Wanda loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. To her, family was everything. Her love, wisdom, and faith have left a lasting mark on each of them – and on everyone who was blessed to know her.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 24, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, September 25, at 2:00pm at Westside Christian Church.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, dancing once again with her Savior.
