

Wayne Phelps, 69 year-old resident of Shawnee, OK, passed away June 7, 2016 in Shawnee, OK. Born June 2, 1947 in Pittsburg, KS, he was the son of Chester Lester Phelps and Iris Louise (Cochran) Phelps. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and had earned the Bronze Star. Wayne was a former Deputy Chief in the Midwest City Fire Dept. and Chief in the Ardmore, OK Fire Dept. He loved his Lake Eufaula home; bowling; golfing; sports especially OSU, OU, and the OKC Thunder; fixing things involving carpentry and plumbing; and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by his father; and 3 siblings, Don Phelps; Sandy Stoner; and Traci Jo Wheat. Survivors include his wife, Connie Phelps of the home; his mother, Iris Phelps of MWC, OK; 2 daughters, Heather Phelps and her significant other, Cody Glueck of Denver, CO; and Jimmie and her husband Kent Blessing; 3 grandchildren, Allie Blessing; Jacob Blessing; and Coggan Blessing; 1 brother, Keith and his wife Michelle Phelps of Choctaw, OK; 1 sister, Kris Wheat of Moore, OK; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 10, 2016 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel with burial following Military Honors at Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, OK.
