

Winnie Beth (Smith) Williams was born to Morton Smith and Kathryn (Tanner) Smith in Weatherford, TX on May 23, 1926 and she left this world on March 20, 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 92 years, 9 months, and 28 days.
The Smith family moved to Delhi, OK in January of 1929. She attended Delhi schools for 10 years. She graduated from Hext High School in 1944 being Salutatorian of her class. Her father died July 16, 1943. She and her mother moved to Sayre, OK after graduation in 1944. She met Howard Williams in 1944 and they married on August 9, 1945. They lived in Sayre, OK until moving to Oklahoma City, OK in October 1957.
She was preceded in passing by her parents Morton and Kathryn; her siblings, Hubert Smith, Dorothy Fuchs, and Stanley Smith; and her husband Howard Williams in 1989. Also a stillborn son, Steven Solomon Williams in 1955. She is survived by 2 daughters; Phyllis Phillips and husband Doyle; Lynda Goodson and husband Bob. Also 7 grandchildren; Shelly Brown and husband Wesley; Scott Phillips and wife Kandy; Brandon Phillips; Gerald Goodson and wife Amber; Russell Goodson and wife Tonya; James Goodson and wife Michelle; and Ashlee Richardson. Also surviving are 14 great grandchildren; Ashlee Brown-Lee and husband Will; Brooke Phillips; Paige Phillips; Dallas Goodson; Tyler Goodson; Jessi Goodson; Lyndsay Goodson; Austin Goodson; Gracie Goodson; Jeffery Patton; Kevlyn Patton; Chasee Lamb; Talon Townsend and wife Jamie; Trever Townsend and wife Hailie, and 1 great great grandson Everett Townsend; plus numerous relatives and friends.
She was a homemaker while the girls were young and took in ironings to help support the family. She made most of the girl’s clothes and was always ready to meet any needs of the family. IN 1963 she went to work for Sears and retired in 1987 with 24 years of service. She spent her retirement years quilting, gardening, and playing games with the grandchildren. (Her favorite was Skip-Bo). Winnie was baptized in 1955 at the Sayre Church of Christ and she was a faithful Christian until the end at Southwest Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, OK.
