I am so sad that my lovely host „Nanny“ has passed away. She was so friendly, warm and open to me during my stay at Carole‘s house.  The way she and Grandpa treated each other impressed me so much.
Thank God I had the chance to get to know her. 
My beloved host family is in my thoughts.

A living angel, all my memories of her are pleasant and happy. I am grateful to share her genes and I feel a deep saddness to have not seen her in as long as I have. Rest easy, Nanny. 

Whenever we would travel out to see family, Nanny was one of the people I was most excited to see. Nanny had such a kind and loving energy to her that no matter what we did while visiting it felt special and precious. I will always keep the wonderful memories I have there close to my heart and cherish the time I got to spend with her. She made all of our lives better by knowing her, may she rest in peace. 

Aunt Bernice was a beautiful gracious lady whom I adored.   I have fond memories of visiting with my parents, Earl and Ida Pahler, when I was young and she will definitely be missed.  Sending prayers for comfort. 

It is with profound sadness that Janice and I send our most heartfelt condolences on the passing of Aunt Bernice. We would exchange family news in our Christmas cards and I was able to visit when I was back in Lawrence to see dad. Aunt Bernice was a  kind, gracious lady with a warm and inviting smile and I will miss her very much.  May the Lord wrap his loving arms around all of you and give you peace at this time of great loss.

I love my Aunt Bernice so very, very much. Seems like yesterday that She, Uncle “Big” & my cousins were either at our home, or my family was in Lenexa on weekends. We sure seemed to eat a lot of hot dogs as kids. I took after Aunt Bernice as she always had a “coke” for breakfast. I do that too! Her teeny Southern twang was so fun to listen to, especially if she felt the need to scold my Uncle. She treated my Mom like a real Sister-not a sister-in-law! My heart goes out to Uncle Big, Ed, Carole, Craig (little brother) and your spouses and all your children. I always think that “We cry, because we have lost someone, and cry also out of the joy and fond memories they gave us.” I will miss you, Aunt Bernice.  Annie
