Billy Claire McCreary, 80 , of Gardner, Kansas passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met.
Billy was born on July 4, 1935 in Neosho, Missouri to Orville and Arvilla (Capps) Hardy. She attended and graduated from Lawrence Memorial High School. She worked as a clerk and department manager for Butternut Bread Co. After she retired from Butternut, she worked at the Hen House on 117th Roe in Leawood, Kansas. She worked in the Kiddie Corner watching the children while their mother’s did their grocery shopping.
She enjoyed the children very much, along with meeting and talking with everyone she met. The times she spent in Minnesota with her husband Richard at their lake home were her most favorite. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family.
Billy is preceded in death by her parents Orville and Arvilla Hardy. She is survived by her husband of 59 years Richard L. McCreary of the home. Daughters: Janna Leigh McCreary of Olathe, Kansas and Sheryl Ann Harmon and her husband Kelly of Springhill, Kansas.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her grandson Dustin Shaffer. Billy is also survived by her brother James O. Hardy and his wife Rosemarie of Surprise, Arizona. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her. Funeral services will be 7:00p.m. Thursday, July 30th at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas.
Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 31st in Gardner Township Cemetery Gardner, Kansas. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
