Donald Boyd Eidson

Donald Boyd Eidson, known by many as Boyd, was born September 25, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri to Delbert Derrell and Mary Eilean (Daniels) Eidson. He was one of ten children. His sibling referred to him as Pinkie. In his younger days he was very involved in boy scouts, swimming and baseball. Boyd attended Rosedale High School where he met Sandy Reynolds (McNeill) the mother of their three sons.

He worked for Panhandle Eastern for over 30 years before finding employment with Johnson County in the maintenance department until his retirement in 2012. He developed great friendships at the county.

Boyd enjoyed making furniture, fishing, golf and crossword puzzles. He was the one you wanted on your team when playing trivia games. He loved spending time with his family. There was nothing in life that Boyd loved more then his three boys. And always cherished the time he had with his grandsons. He looked forward to cooking Thanksgiving dinner with his daughter-in-laws.

Boyd is preceded in death by his parents Delbert and Mary Eidson, and his brother Derrell Eidson.

He is survived by his sons Robert Eidson and his wife Chandra, David Eidson and his wife Kiley and Delbert Eidson all of Paola, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are his two grandsons Cooper & Riley. He will be sadly missed by his siblings: Tim Eidson and his wife Janice, Dennis Eidson and his wife Sally, Phyllis Bridges and her husband Bob, Larry Eidson and his wife Carol, Jan Sumner and her husband Fred, Pam Frye and her husband Rick, Lester Eidson and his wife Lisa and Leslie Eidson and his wife Peggy. Pinkie is also survived by his sister-in-law Ida Eidson (Derrell’s wife) along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas 66061. Interment in Olathe Memorial Cemetery 738 North Chestnut Olathe, Kansas. Visitation 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
