Margo Ann (Wilson) Brashears passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024, at the age of 81. Margo was born March 25, 1943 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Bill and Dorothy Wilson. Approximately five years later, her family welcomed her sister Kristin.
Margo attended school in Colorado Springs until her family moved to Shawnee, Kansas where she graduated from Shawnee Mission North in 1961. Margo’s work career included jobs at Hallmark Cards, Murphy Finance, and of course babysitting. In 1963, she met Archie Brashears Jr. They married February 17, 1964 and later welcomed their son Michael in 1965. They moved to Olathe, KS on North Keeler. In 1970, they welcomed their daughter Michelle. Margo stayed home and cared for “Mikie” and Michelle.
She also baby-sat little Curtis, a neighbor and new friend for Mikie, who suffered from Cerebral Palsy. Following Mikie’s death in 1978, Margo went to work in the cafeteria at Washington Elementary School and Central Kitchen for the Olathe School District. Margo eventually started an in-home daycare (“M&M Daycare”) with her daughter Michelle.
Margo and Michelle had a passion for country music and traveled around the country to hear their favorite country singers during the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. Margo was an avid collector of Hallmark ornaments and Coca Cola memorabilia and enjoyed antiquing and flea markets. Following Michelle’s death due to complications from diabetes in 2020, Margo closed M&M Daycare and retired in 2022. Margo cared for numerous children throughout her career and remained close to many of her ‘kids’, including Sammy, Ronnie, Kale, Kylie, Curtis, Scott and Hattie.
Margo will be dearly missed by her beloved husband Archie, who recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. Margo was preceded in death by her children Mikie and Michelle but reunited on Mother’s Day in eternal life. Margo is survived by her husband Archie, sister-in-law Sharon Brashears, brothers-in-law Jim (Sandy) Brashears and Gerold Janzen, niece Lindsey, nephew Henry and numerous cousins.
