Mildred Louise Stimpson, 91, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away surround by her loving family on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met. Mildred was born on June 6, 1926 in Olathe, Kansas to Marshall and Mildred (Hartley) Walton. She attended and graduated from Belton High School and worked as an Office manager for Union/Atmos Gas Company. Mildred married the love of her life Edwin Stimpson on April 23, 1966 in Olathe, Kansas and was a dedicated member of Legacy Christian Church in Overland Park, Kansas. Mildred is preceded in death by her parents Marshall and Mildred Walton, loving husband of 33 years, Edwin Stimpson, great great grandson, Gabriel Garrett, and brother, Robert Lee Walton. She is survived by her two children, Miles Steele and his wife Susan of Merriam, Kansas and Marsha Garrett and her husband Terry of Stilwell, Kansas. Left behind to cherish her memory are her five grandchildren, Greg Garett and his wife Julie, Sherry Olinger and her husband Scott, Steven Steele and his love Emily, Ashlee Williams and her husband Chris and Michael Steele and his wife Jackie. She will be sadly missed by her fourteen great grandchildren, Geoff Garrett, Emily Bachman, Jessica Olinger, Garrett Olinger, Andrew Olinger, Joshua Olinger, Elijah Williams, Jeremiah Williams, Gretchen Steele, Remington Steele, Jamir Crawford, Jasmine Williams, Jorja Janssen and Jillian Janssen along with two great great grandchildren, Aubree Garrett and Grayson Garrett. Mildred is also survived by her brother, J.S. Walton and two sisters, Doris Smith and Linda Keen. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff at the Kansas City Hospice House for the excellent service they provided not only to their mother but to the family as well. Funeral service 11:00a.m. Monday, February 26th at Legacy Christian Church 10150 Antioch Road Overland Park, Kansas. Interment in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens 13901 Black Bob Road Olathe, Kansas. Visitation 10:00a.m.-11:00a.m.one hour prior to the service at the church.
