He was born in Parsons, KS to Paul A. and Alberta Young on January 14, 1943. Frank spent the first 18 years of his life in Southeast Kansas and his summers at his grandparent’s farm in Ft. Scott. He graduated from Labette County High School in Altamont, KS in 1961. Frank moved to Olathe in 1961 and married his beloved wife, Sharon, in 1965. He attended Finley Engineering College and worked at Delco Battery, a division of General Motors, for 35 years and retired from there in 1999. Frank loved the Chiefs and the Royals and was fortunate enough to get to go to Superbowl IV and watch the Chiefs win in New Orleans. He loved camping and traveling and enjoyed many hours in his pool with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church as well as the Delcco Battery Local 1021 Retirees Group. Frank enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father and known as “Boppy” to his grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon L. Young; children, Paul Kenneth “Kent” Young and wife Kammra; daughter, Jacqueline “Jacquie” Collins and husband Doug; grandchildren, Kline Collins and wife Keeley, Eve Collins, Caleb Collins, McClain Young, Laryn Young and Kycen Young; sisters, Vicki Hawley and husband Chuck, Debbie Goats and husband Dean, Janet Mawhorter and husband Dale; brother-in-law, Vernon “Bud” Helm.
Frank will always be known for his sense of humor, his caring ways, his loyal personality to his friends and his love for his children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s association of Kansas City or The America Cancer Society.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
