

Olathe, KS – Phyllis Barber, 97, died peacefully Thursday September 4, 2025, at her daughter's home in Olathe, Kansas, where she had resided for the last 2 ½ years. She was surrounded by family when she passed.
Phyllis was born December 1,1927 in Marysville, Kansas, the daughter of Marguerite (Koppes) Farrell and James Farrell. She graduated from Marysville High School and attended two years at the University of Kansas. On May 25, 1949 she married Don Barber at St. Gregory’s Church in Marysville. She served as his secretary for many years. He preceded her in death March 6, 1996.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe where she served as a greeter. She enjoyed reading and playing cards with her friends and spending time outside working in her flowerbeds. Her door was always open to family and friends. She had an open heart and friendly smile for everyone. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters; Cathy and husband Glenn, Olathe, Kansas and Kay, Scottsdale, Arizona; 5 grandchildren Dusty, Lindsay and husband Eric both of Olathe, Kansas, Mandy, Cassie and husband Mackenzie both of Kansas City, Missouri, Ali and husband Ryan, Scottsdale, Arizona; and 10 great grandchildren, Haylie, Evan, Sophie, Lexi, Asher, Abby, Kal, Lydia, Rylie and Lincoln.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Delores and Marjorie.
Funeral Mass and Burial will be in Dodge City, Kansas at a later date.
The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
