Robert Eugene Towner, 60, of Shawnee KS, passed away on August 3, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones at Advent Health Shawnee Mission. Born on December 12, 1964, in Olathe, KS, Robert lived a life filled with laughter, courage, hard-work and an unwavering dedication to his family.
Robert has left a legacy that will be carried on and that will inspire many generations to come. Robert was best known for his work ethic and love for his family. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather for over 30 years. Robert’s resilience, fight, and never give up attitude has provided an example for all who knew him of how to overcome any obstacles in their path. His example will be held in the hearts of many.
Robert is survived by his wife of 31 years, Maria Ortiz-Towner; their children, his son, Raymond Towner (fiancé, Alyssa Gerber), his daughter, Olivia Burzoni (Towner) (husband, Nicolas); his grandson, Lukas Burzoni; and many dear family and friends. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Edith Harper and Donald Towner.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 10:30AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 5501 Monticello Rd, Shawnee, KS 66226.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Cancer Institute for their exceptional care and support for Robert in the last 5 years, including but not limited to Dr. Mouhammad Kyasa and his team.
Robert’s legacy will live on in the lives that he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
