

Russell James Davey, 80, of Spring Hill, KS, passed away February 12, 2010. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 17th, at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula, Olathe, with burial following in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm, Tuesday, at McGilley & Frye. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Olathe Medical Center Hospice or Friends of Boy Scout Troop 225.
Russell was born June 17, 1929 in Emporia, KS, to Donald and Amanda (Rumford) Davey. He was a hard working man starting out as a lineman for Highline Construction Co and moving on to Delco Battery, where he retired in 1991 after 31 years of service. He was also a member of the UAW Local 1021. While working full time he also stayed busy driving for ReddyMix and operating Davey Stump Removal. He was a very special man who enjoyed fishing, driving the school bus and just methodically piddling around.
Mr. Davey was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald Lee Davey and Robert “Bob” Glen Davey.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Davey of the home; 3 children, Debbie (Windell) Johnson of Paola, KS, Ed (Arleta) Davey of Olathe, KS and Tracy Davey (partner Joni Jirasek); sister-in-law, Joy Lee Davey; 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
