Arthur Kinsley spent his formative years growing up in Watchung NJ, the middle of three sons of Francis and Eleanor Kinsley. Arthur had many hobbies in his High School years including: ham radio operating, sports – wrestling & captain of football team; and President of the Student Council before graduating from North Plainfield NJ High School class of 1956. His dreams were to become a pilot and an electrical engineer (EE). He accomplished both. Before graduating from Penn State University in 1961, Arthur married Ruth Louise Locke on August 29th 1959. Art had many passions over his lifetime including woodworking, square dancing, fishing, camping, football, electronics and most of all - flying. Upon college graduation he went to flight school and spent the next four years serving his country as a pilot in the U.S. Navy. He accrued over 1500 flight hours and 355 carrier landings on twelve of the U.S. Navy’s Aircraft Carrier fleet.
After the Navy, Art landed a job with Sanders Associates in Nashua NH and began a 30+ year career serving his country in the weapons defense industry. During this time he and Ruth planted roots with their two children in Hollis NH, a small farming community at the time just outside of Nashua. They lived in Hollis in an old colonial house with a stone foundation built in 1778 for forty nine years. Art loved woodworking and had plenty of opportunities to utilize his carpentry skills through numerous house renovation projects, and several grade school projects that Ruth, a first grade teacher, requested of him. Together they spent more than 25 years enjoying the art of Square & Round Dancing with local clubs, traveling regularly thoughout New England to dance. Art & Ruth loved to camp and spent many summer vacations and weekends enjoying southern Maine’s coastal region. Art had the honor of being selected by his employer to participate in and graduate from a two year executive MBA program at Northeastern University. After Art & Ruth both retired, they purchased an RV and spent a few years touring the country, spending time in almost all 50 States before selling their homestead and relocating to a Square Dance community in Plant City Florida. After a few years there, for health reasons they relocated to a retirement community just outside of Nashville TN, where their daughter Kim and her family live. Art suffered from Alzheimer's in the last several years of his life, but held onto his sense of humor to the end. In early September this year he caught Covid, which along with complicating factors resulted in his passing at age 83.
Arthur was predeceased by the love of his life, Ruth, on February 21st of this year. He is survived by his two brothers, Robert and David Kinsley and their spouses and families, his son and daughter, Mark Kinsley and Kim Kinsley-Hererra and their spouses, Lori Kinsley and David Hererra, and five grand children: Benjamin Kinsley, Joshua Kinsley, Sarah Kinsley, Kayla Hererra and Luke Kinsley. He will be lovingly missed by all of us, and remain in our hearts and memories forever.
