She was born October 7, 1930, in Lafayette, TN, the daughter of the late Jack and Ruth Dallas. She was a lifelong member of Central Pike Church of Christ and lived a humble Christian Life of service to others. Early in life she served as a nurse at McFarland Hospital in Lebanon, TN. It’s there that she met her husband of 57 years, Raymond Lane, Sr. After marriage and raising three children, she began volunteer work at Donelson Hospital, which later became Summit Hospital. She served as a volunteer for over 30 years at this facility and in 2006 received the Frist Volunteer of the year award. She also volunteered at McKendree Village delivering daily mail to the residence there.
Preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lane Sr., daughter and son-in-law, Myra and Bruce Gibson, sister, Earlene Cothran, and brothers, Donald and Kenneth Dallas.
She is survived by her son, Raymond Lane, Jr. (Kirbi) of Mt. Juliet, TN and daughter, Nancy Edwards (Sam) of Hermitage, TN. Grandchildren, Dennis Edwards (Denisse), Elijah Minter (Melissa), Derrick Edwards (Amanda), and William Gibson. Great-grandchildren, Madison Minter, Ethan, Lincoln and Elizabeth Edwards. Sisters, Hilda Woods of Lafayette, TN, and Maurene Clark of Pegram, TN. Brothers, Leonard Dallas of Lafayette, TN and Ralph Dallas of Goodlettsville, TN. Numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 1 pm Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Hermitage Funeral Home with Bro. John Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Hermitage Memorial Gardens with Dennis Edwards, Derrick Edwards, Elijah Minter, Jerry Greer, Ray Hudgens and Steve Cothron serving as active pallbearers and Betty Evans, Pam Skeleton, Donna Gleaves and Tanya Lillard serving as honorary.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 2pm until 6pm and from 10 am until 1pm on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alive Hospice.
