He had 4 brothers, Jack, who survives and Grover, Eugene and Tom who preceded him in death. He is also survived by his children Connie Powell (Dennis), Larry Hopper (Evelyn), Teresa Marchese (Gary), Gail Watts (Jarrett),
Tracy Hopper (Amanda) and 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Cecil served in the Army, Air Force and National Guard. Post WWII, while stationed at Nellis Air Force base in Las Vegas, Nevada unknowing to the soldiers at the time; he had an instrumental part in the construction of the top secret Area 51. Cecil was honored as one of the WWII veterans that took the Freedom Flight to Washington, DC on October 2012.
Visitation at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens is Monday, January 20, 2014 at 3-7 pm and Tuesday 11-1pm. Pallbearers are: Corey Birdwell, Calvin Conner, Travis Mullinax, Robert Jongema, Tony Music and Ty Smith.
Memorial service will be Tuesday, January 21 at 1:00 pm.
