David Henry Parker, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026. Born on October 17, 1936, David lived a life marked by dedication, intelligence, faith, and quiet enjoyment of the things he loved most.

David was a devoted husband to his wife, Dawn Parker. He is survived by his children, Richard, Lee Ann, and Shannon, and his stepchildren, Michael, Amber, and Jason. He was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy.

He attended Kentucky Military Academy during his high school years, where he developed the discipline and work ethic that would guide him throughout his life. David went on to study civil engineering at Vanderbilt University and Tennessee Technological University, where he also ran track during his college years. He enjoyed a long and successful career as a civil engineer, working in the field for more than 60 years. He was also a partner with Frank Batson Homes, contributing significantly on the development side of the business and leaving a lasting professional legacy.

A man of strong faith, David was a longtime member of Hermitage Nazarene Church and participated in several men’s Bible study groups over the years. His faith was an important part of his life and community.

Outside of work and church, David had a deep love for reading and found great joy and peace at his lake house. He also cherished time spent at the beach. A lifelong football fan, David especially enjoyed cheering on the Tennessee Titans and rarely missed a game.

David will be remembered for his steady presence, sharp mind, faithfulness, and appreciation for both hard work and life’s simple pleasures. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21st, 2026, at Hermitage Nazarene Church. Visitation will be from 12 pm until 2:00 pm, with service following visitation at 2:00pm. All family and friends are welcome.
