Fred Russell Denson

Fred grew up in Nashville and graduated Hume Fogg High School and the Nashville School of Law. For thirty-four years he was the General Counsel for the Tennessee National Guard.

Fred is preceded in death by his father, Cecil B. Denson; his mother, Peggy Kearns. Survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Sharon Denson; his daughter, Tennille McVetty (Walter); his sons, Rusty Denson (Paige) and Scot Denson (Gabriella); and his grandchildren Hayleigh, Hayden, Amia, Sophia, Bella, Hensley, Daniel, Summer, Savanna, Beau, and Liam. Fred also leaves behind many extended family members and a host of close friends.

There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in the Rachel Visitation Room at the Hermitage Funeral Home from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM. There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at St. Stephens Catholic Community in Old Hickory, TN, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Father Davis Chakkalakkal will officiate the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Nashville Alive Hospice (alivehospice.org) or Tunnels 2 Towers (t2t.org) in Fred’s memory.
