BROWN, Gloria Wilson, age 84 of Old Hickory, TN went to be with her heavenly Father on March 11, 2011 after an extended illness. She was born September 19, 1926 in Gamaliel, KY to parents, Fred and Clodine Biles Wilson. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack D. Brown; son, Marshall W. Brown; brother, Robert Forrest Wilson (Ann) and two nephews, Dr. Steven Wilson of Wilmington, North Carolina and Patrick Wilson of Denver, Colorado. After graduating from DuPont High School in 1945, and attending David Lipscomb College, she graduated from Peabody College in 1951 with a degree in Library Science. She taught elementary school in Amqui in Madison and then at DuPont in Old Hickory. Later she taught in Asheville, and Charlotte, North Carolina. Gloria was a teacher at heart. She was strict, but loved her students and wanted only the best for them. Mrs. Brown always thought of Old Hickory as her home. The friendships and memories made while growing up in the little house on Birdsall Street, going to school at DuPont, working at the Plant, Library and school held a special place in her heart. Growing up, her father, Fred, worked double shifts at the DuPont Plant to provide for Gloria and Forrest, while mother, Clodine, lovingly cooked and sewed and worked to make their house a home. When we remember Gloria, we think of the many loving ways she made a difference in the lives of her family members and friends over the years. She will be terribly missed. Funeral service to be conducted, 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in Hermitage Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Richardson officiating, interment to follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
