Isabel Rebeca Britton, age 77, of Hermitage, Tennessee, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 19, 2024 peacefully at her home surrounded by family. Isabel was born December 1, 1946 in Lima, Peru, South America to Vicente and Ysabel Trigoso.
Isabel accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of eight on November 7, 1955, the day her mother died. Shortly after that, a desire developed in her heart to become a missionary, and this became the subject of their games as children when playing with her brothers and sisters. Isabel began studying Bible courses by extension and taking piano lessons as a teenager. At the age of 20, the call from God was confirmed and she dedicated her life to serving the Lord. Later, she traveled to the city of Cali, Colombia, South America, to study at the International Baptist Theological Seminary. Her desire was to get the best training in order to serve the Lord in a better way. Isabel completed her studies and obtained a degree in Christian Education. She also developed her abilities to sing, play piano, teach the Bible among children, and in ministry with women. This has been the cornerstone of her extensive ministry for more than 50 years! While at seminary in Cali, she met Estriberto Britton, and they were married on June 9, 1973.
Isabel’s devotion in life was to the Lord, her family, and her ministry. She could make friends very easily, and these friendships would remain for many years. She suffered with rheumatoid arthritis since she was very young, but despite her illness and limitations, the Lord kept her enthusiasm alive. With God's help, she had determined not to allow her physical limitations to affect her ministry. Isabel strongly believed that the Lord had a special purpose for her life, that Jesus was her Lord and Savior, and that her present and future was in His hands.
Isabel has ministered extensively in Latin America and for the past 32 years in Tennessee. She served at Tulip Grove Baptist Church in many areas, including the WMU, both in Spanish and in English.
Isabel comes from a large family of 16 brothers and sisters! She was preceded in death by her parents Vicente and Ysabel Trigoso, and 10 of her siblings: Juan, Margarita, Grimalda, Graciela, David, Nelly, Ruben, Daniel, Benjamin, and Efrain.
Isabel is survived by her husband of 50 years, Estriberto Britton; sons: Jose (Joy) Britton, Andy (Annie) Britton and daughter, Becky Britton, and nine grandchildren: Joseph, Jonah, Emma, Isabella, Cali, Eliana, Andy, Elizabeth, and Samuel; siblings: Saul, Debora, Noemy, Ismael & Mary.
A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and Friday from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at Tulip Grove Baptist Church, 563 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN.
