

JW was born April 9, 1948, in a farming community in AR. He was raised in Memphis and graduated from South Side High School. He lived and worked in and around Nashville as a commercial driver for most of his adult life. He thoroughly enjoyed meeting and talking with people, music and especially dancing, and taking care of all friends and family who were lucky enough to be in his circle. He was a beloved father to his children and stepchildren, a humble caregiver, and the rock they all could depend on. He was a hero to those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife Christine, stepson Rodney Moss, and grandson Jason Potter. Also by his parents HV and Retha Swanson and his youngest brother Eddie.
He is survived by siblings Harold Swanson, Carolyn Stainback, and Janice Huss. He also leaves son Jeremy Swanson, granddaughter Kayla, and great granddaughter Brielle; as well as daughter Alicia Vu, son-in-law Vinh Vu, and grandchildren Ana and Isaac.
He is also survived by stepdaughter Cynthia Amundson, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
All friends and family are invited to gather together Saturday, March 29, beginning at 12:00pm to 2:00pm for visitation at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN, 37138. Funeral service will begin at 2:00pm followed by graveside service.
