John Robert Matthews, age 66 of Hermitage TN. He was born in Old Hickory, TN on Dec. 12, 1945 and he passed away on Sept. 1, 2012 after an extended illness suffering from complications of neurofibromatosis. He was a graduate of Goodletsville High School class of 1963 and a graduate of Automation Institute. He worked for Hermitage Wal-Mart for 27 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Mt. Juliet. He was preceded in death by his father, Bedford Ivan Matthews; daughter, Beverly Denice Matthews; son, Daniel Jeffrey Matthews; & brother-in-law, Fred Pitt. Survived by wife of 42 years, Earlene Armstrong Matthews; son, Tim Matthews; daughter, Lori Matthews; mother, Jane H. Matthews; brother, Connor (Marjorie) Matthews; sister, Emma Jane Pitt; & brother, William (Linda) Matthews. Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012 at Hermitage Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens from 12 pm untill 2 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2 pm by Pastor Greg Tabor.
