I had a drifting mood today
It stirred a thought or two
My mind went back to happy days
To memories of you

Our lives are like a tapestry
With two distinctive sides
The front a perfect picture
The back our secret hides

Our memories are built like this
Some are clear and real
Others travel in and out
With no specific feel

Life's phases too are tapestries
With textures of their own
Some we love and some we hate
From all of them we've grown

We gather wisdom from our pains
From torment we grow strong
Our spirit nurtured by mistakes
Still fated travels on

Perhaps one thing which stays the same
And will forever more
Is the love we hold for another soul
The people we adore

I cannot think of them as dead,
Who walk with me no more;
Along the path of life I tread
They have but gone before.

The Father's House is mansioned fair,
Beyond my vision dim;
All souls are His, and here or there
Are living unto Him.

And still their silent ministry
Within my heart hath place,
As when on earth they walked with me,
And met me face to face.

Their lives are made forever mine;
What they to have been
Hath left henceforth its seal and sign
Engraven deep within.

Mine are they by an ownership
Nor time nor death can free;
For god hath given to love to keep
Its own eternally.

Uncle, I will miss playing video games with you.  I left a video controller in your casket, so that we can play video games together again, when I get to heaven one day.

Travis, I met you when you were 5 years old and through the years you became my brother.  I will miss you.

Travis, my precious, precious son, words cannot begin to describe the pain and void I feel in my heart. You were the example of the kind of child every mother wants. I shall always cherish your loving and compassionate ways, your contagious smile, our midnight talks and "refridgerator raids", and all the support you gave for many years to come. You could light up the darkest night with ease. Although, God has taken you home, I have been blessed to be your mother for 31 beautiful and amazing years.

Uncle, you will be greatly missed but, you are now with us all watching over us. Things will never be what they used to and that is the hard part. That feeling of waiting to hear you let out a snore during the night or some funny joke you say will always be present. There is no words in this world to say to someone to help them through this difficult time...but the memories of you, Uncle, will always give us comfort and that we must have faith that God protects you just as much as you protected us. I love you so much Uncle.

I have so many good memories of Travis and I when we were little at Granny and Grand dads house. Though we have always lived far apart , my heart is broken.
