Joyce will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She graduated from Trousdale County High school in 1950. She was the co-captain of the girls’ basketball team and the salutatorian of her class. She was an active member of Madison Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Wilburn worked for AT&T for 25 years. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, reading, and gardening. Joyce was also an avid walker who would get in her two miles rain or shine.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Karen (Jerry) Bates; grandchildren Lauren Bates (Nick) Bockoven, Kayla Bates; great-grandson, Bates Ryan Bockoven; daughter-in-law, Sabrina Wilburn; siblings Rhea Dyer, Revayne Furniss, and Colin Dyer.
Mrs. Wilburn was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ezra D. Wilburn; son, Randy D. Wilburn; siblings, Ruth Watson and Landus Dyer.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 5pm - 8pm and Friday, August 12, 2022 from 10am - 11am at Hermitage Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will begin on Fridad at 11am in the Tulip Grove Room at the funeral home. Burial following at Dixon Springs Cemetery.
