I just learned of Kevin’s passing and was so sorry to hear.   I moved away from Nashville in 2008 and lost touch but called on him at SSOE for 11 years.  He was one of my favorite people to go see.  Always quick with a positive word or a funny word and a sideways glance.    We played golf together on a fairly regular basis and his rule was that we could not keep score!  It was about quality time and relationship for him, not about the game.  I was not living my faith at that phase of my life, although God has me back now, but Kevin’s faith was always front and center.  I look forward to worshipping in glory one day with my friend.   I pray that his family continues to have the peace of our Lord and savior Jesus.

I just learned of Kevin's passing this morning and I am still in shock and disbelief!  It's so true that Kevin always had a smile on his face.  I worked for Kevin at SSOE for a year and a half.  Because I was a contract employee I wasn't elligible for a Christmas bonus that year.  Kevin could see that I was a bit distraught by it.  He came to me one afternoon and asked to join him at longhorn for supper just the two of us right before the Christmas break.  We are dinner and talked for hours.  He was so easy to talk to and gain life wisdom from.  He paid for the meal and slid me an envelope with a card in it.  "Thanks for all you do!  -Kevin and in it sat $200 cash of his own money.  I broke down and cried about like I want to right now.  God speed old friend!  I hope I see you on the other side! Rest in Peace.

I praise the Lord that his suffering was not long and his passing was such a blessed event. Kevin was a great friend and without a doubt the best person I have ever had opportunity to work with and under his supervision at SSOE.  I know he will be greatly missed by all who have known him. Kevin was our Youth Pastor at Lincoya Hills Baptist Church in the 1980's and he led our son, Mark Barnes, to Christ. I will always remember, appreciate and cherish Kevin. We are praying for Susan, children and family.

I was fortunate enough to work with Kevin for 7 years. He helped teach and guide me not only professionally but personally. Kevin approached every situation with a smile and open heart. His legacy and positive outlook will live on from all his teachings to family and friends.

I worked with Kevin at SSOE and was also a former employee of IC Thomasson, so we had a few things in common. Kevin really helped me feel welcome when I started work at SSOE. He always brought a smile to my face with his easy-going spirit. I will certainly miss him. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I am so sorry to hear of Kevin's passing.  I remember him leading prayer at the opening of our ASHRAE meetings.

I had great respect for him as an engineer.  He was a fine man to know.

Susan, Amy and Rachel... Jamie and I were so shocked and saddened to hear of Kevin's passing. When I first met Kevin, Jamie was away at the academy and I was alone, new in town and looking for a church. Your family was just one of many- but the first- to make me feel welcome. Over the years that we were there Kevin was a spiritual leader and friend to us and the first one we called when Luke was born early and with a heart condition. He steered us away from worry and reminded us of the peace that Jesus gives. We are so grateful for his friendship but rejoice with you as we know he is with Jesus now. God Bless.

Kevin was a wonderful spiritual leader for my youth group at Lincoya Hills Baptist Church in the 80's. He led so many of us to Christ and he is forever remembered for his Blue Nissan 280 Z ... I will truly miss him, prayers to Susan and the girls...

It is with deep sorrow that I learned today of Kevin's passing. May we all rest assured that he now rests with the Great Architect of the Universe  in that house not made with hands. His legacy left here will never fade.

I first met Kevin over ten years ago when I began work at SSOE.  He was always a joy and never left you without a smile.  In January of 2015 my wife was diagnosed with stage IV cancer.  At that time, Kevin was my section manager and as such I went to him the morning after diagnosis to explain that I would be in and out of work over the next few weeks.  As I choked out the words about my wife's condition, Kevin looked at me and smiled and said tell her you are looking at stage IV cancer.  Those words at what seemed like an hour of total darkness gave a glimmer of light.  My wife was so thankful.  I told Kevin later that day what his words had meant.  In his usual, nonchalant way he said, The devil will try to kill you a lot of ways.  I just decided I wasn't going to let him win. 
It's obvious the devil lost and the Lord won.  Kevin is proof that God works through Christians to offer light unto the world.  May God's light shine on the Haas family at this hour.

I knew Kevin while he was here at IC Thomasson Associates and through ASHRAE Nashville Chapter. My sincere condolences to the Haas Family during for your loss.

Kevin was a dear friend and colleague at SSOE. He was a role model to me in the way he lived out his role as a husband and father, his profession and his faith. My prayers are with his family, that God will provide comfort and peace for them during this time of sorrow. But I also celebrate that Kevin is now with the Lord, and free from the pain he had been enduring. He'll be profoundly missed, as he impacted so many of us with his joy and love of life. Having the opportunity to work with and talk with Kevin was always a highlight of my day. He was very kind and caring and knowing Kevin and having the opportunity to work with him was a privilege. He will be missed much, and thought of often. God Bless you and your family.

I'm not sure you fully appreciate a person sometimes until years later.  So shocked and heart broken to hear this news.  I was a youth at Lincoya Hills Baptist when Kevin served as Youth Minister.  So many times I think back and realize that he was just a college student himself yet went above and beyond to mentor, counsel, and nurture each and everyone of us, often forfeiting his weekends to take us on youth trips and driving back and forth during the week for us.  He was one of the very first positive male role models in my life, and though if almost feels selfish to feel so much grief after such a long absence from my life, the memories of his influence during those years are something I know I share with so many.  Susan, I'm so sorry for your loss . You and the girls will be in my every thought and prayer.  Rest in Peace Kevin, you left such a remarkable legacy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I knew Kevin for 15+ years as a co-worker.  I will miss his down to earth wisdom and saying.  We always left a conversation with a laugh.  My best to the Haas family.

I knew Kevin for 15+ years.  I will miss his home spun wisdom and sayings.  No matter the situation, we always ended every conversation with a laugh and joke.  I will miss him.

I had the privilege of working with Kevin for the last 5 years. Kevin was an excellent role model and friend to everyone in our group.

Robin and I shared many wonderful times with Kevin at the Tennessee Tech BSU together. We are so sorry for your loss.

Kevin was the Youth Minister at Lincoya Hills Baptist Church when my children were youth and Kevin was such a blessing to each one of them.  He came to my husband's funeral 3 years ago and he was such a comfort to my family.  We always loved him.  He was a good Christian man.
