Larry Pardue was born on May 19th, 1937 to Ray and Alma Pardue. He grew up in Scottsville, Kentucky and graduated from Allen County High School. After graduation, he went on to Western Kentucky University and studied business. He met his wife Phyllis Pardue at a piano recital, and they were married for 64 years. They had one daughter, Michelle.
Larry was a second lieutenant in the Tennessee National Guard and worked for many years in the insurance industry as a manger for Aetna Life and Casualty. He retired in 1994 and devoted his time to family, hobbies and volunteer work. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing piano, raising cattle and buying and selling cars. For many years he was a weekend farmer tending to a 120 acre farm and 100 head of cattle.
Many will remember Larry for his generosity. He always had a pocketful of "Franklins" as he called 100 dollar bills. He would hand them out to whoever needed them. In his later years he enjoyed playing gin and canasta with his companion, Carol, and he loved to gloat about his victories until we would beg him to stop. He always took pride in the fact that he could still drive and that he had most of his marbles left. Until the end, he was picking up his great grandchildren from school and activities and taking us all to appointments when we needed help. He loved technology and was very skilled with it for someone his age. Amazon is probably wondering where he is.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Michelle Pardue, son-in-law, Michael Vaughan; granddaughters Mollie Jones (Jordan) and Megan Sanders; great-grandchildren Leo Sanders, Victoria Sanders, Chloe Sanders and Ellie Jones; and his companion, Carol Vaughan.
