Loy E. Bowman, 86, died peacefully on October 10, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Malois Uselton Bowman, of 63 years, along with his 4 children, Ray (Barbara) Bowman, Connie Tolley, Cindy Carter and Cathy Cowan. He had 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Loy was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lucy Bowman, 2 of his sisters Frances Myers and Anna Lee DeLozier, his brother Doug Bowman and his grandson John Wayne Bowman. He is survived by his sisters Juanita Franklin, Linda Franklin, and Wilma Allen.
Loy was a strong, independent man who believed in taking care of his family. He was always there for his family and friends in good times and bad. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all. After returning home from the Korean War, he graduated from Carson Newman College where he met his wife Malois. Loy was a man of many talents. He sold life insurance for 18 years before owning the West End Coffee Shop in Nashville. He also owned a garbage company and was a part time real estate investor. He could make you laugh with his riddles, jokes and stories. He was a Sunday School teacher, a Square Dance Caller, an avid bridge player with the Vanderbilt Bridge Club, and he loved to travel with his wife and friends. He will be greatly missed and his memory will live on forever.
Visitation will be held at the Hermitage Funeral home on Thursday October 12, 2017 from 4pm-8pm and Friday October 13, 2017 from 12-2. The Funeral service will be held Friday October 13, 2017 at 2pm.
