Mrs. Baxa was my second grade teacher, then, again for history in seventh and eight grades. 
One of the teachers I remember best.

More than 30 years later, I still appreciate Mrs. Baxa's demanding but effective (and sometimes humorous) approach to teaching us American History.

Dear Lucretia, Edmond and Baxa family, The Stim women Carol, Joanne, Mary Lou and Kathy, (who died 20 years ago) send our sincere sympathy on the death of Marge. What a wonderful photo of her your provided to the Washington Post. We each knew Marge throught St. Bernadette's school. As a master teacher she was respected and went above and beyond her duties. Marge brought Kathy out of her shyness. Carol, as a room mother, witnessed Marge's many acts of love and respect for all of her students. We send our prayers for her  and your family as she receiver her reward in Heaven.

My heart sank when I heard the sad news at mass this morning of Mrs. B's passing. Like so many of her former students I have many wonderful memories from classes she taught me in 2nd, 7th and 8th grade. I was honored that she did the readings at my wedding to my husband Jay in 1989.  We both looked forward each year to receiving her annual Chrismas poem.  Such a special lady.  Rest in peace Mrs. Baxa.

I had the pleasure of having lunch with Mrs Baxa, my fourth grade teacher, as an adult 15 or so years back.  She was sharp as hell and just such a nice lady.  She was the heavy of St Bs teachers but it was for a reason.

I was so sorry to read this news in today's Washington Post!  I have such fond memories of our family visits to the Baxa home in Springfield, and a lifelong friendship with Marge. What a spirit she had!  She could always make you laugh and feel so loved!  I will always appreciate her loyal visits to my mother as she struggled to recover from a stroke.  Sending my love and sympathy to Lucretia, Edmund and their families.  I was so lucky to have known your mom.

Mrs Baxa was my 2nd grade teacher. She will be soorly missed. She taught me a lot. May she rest in peace.

We all have had teachers that have impacted our lives. Mrs. Baxa, my 7th grade teacher at St. Bernadette's, was most definitely one for me. Kind and caring, yet stern to let you know she meant business. Before she moved from Springfield I enjoyed catching up with her at Sunday mass when visiting my Mom. Thank you for everything Mrs. Baxa.

Ms. Baxa was more than a great teacher to me. She helped me through some difficult times growing up and checked up on me later. Truly a special woman, heaven got a beautiful angel. God bless you Ms. Baca.

Aunt Marge was such a sweet lady. I enjoyed her Christmas poems she wrote each year to tell us about her family and honor Christ's birth. She always had something nice to say about my Mother (Dolores Oborny Dunning). When we lived in Maryland, we visited her and Uncle Edmund a few times. She was a gracious host and good cook. She made us feel welcome and entertained us with interesting stories.

Mrs.Baxa was my 7th grade history teacher, but was always a fixture in my life at St.Bernadette's.  She was an amazing teacher and counselor at times.  She has forever imprinted herself in my heart and mind.  That is the true impact a teacher can have on a student.  God Bless you Mrs.Baxa and thank you for all you did.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Baxa in person but as the post WW2 historian for Springfield, VA, I have found her incredible presence as a pioneer in the early days of the community through her articles in The Springfield Independent newspaper, mentions about her in the paper, and some very warm memories shared with me by her former neighbor, friend and fellow Springfield pioneer, Mrs. Olive Bagot who lived behind Mrs. Baxa in the Crestwood development. To Mrs. Baxa's family, I wish so much that I could have met her and gotten to know the lovely and sweet lady that people so fondly remember on our facebook page "I Remember In Springfield When".  Please accept my condolences on your loss of this magnificent lady and I hope your pride in her life's accomplishments will help ease the pain.

Mrs. Baxa was my second grade teacher at St. Bernadette School. I have never forgotten her. She taught us how to say the "Confiteor" in Latin so we could participate in Mass (in Latin at that time)and surprise our parents. Great teacher. Thank you Baxa family for sharing her with us!

Lucretia and Edmund and your families: We are so sorry for your loss. We enjoyed your Mom so much. Sounds like she was a very special teacher as well. I still remember when we came as kids (I was 12) to Virgina, she walked with me up the 898 steps in the Washington Monument. It was 98 degrees that day. That night she and I had heat exhaustion and she took extra special care of me that evening. You have wonderful memories of her and your Dad. We know they are finally together with Phillip in heaven.

I have so many fond memories of Mrs. Baxa over the years. She was a wonderful teacher and a beautiful human being. She was tough but that was ok..probably a really good thing looking back. I will treasure the Christmas cards we exchanged each year. I will always hold her close in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you all during this difficult time.

She taught me and my sister at St. Bernadette's. She was an amazing teacher and always had funky shoes. She caught me forging my moms signature and a bad test grade. Prayers to her family.

Mrs. Baxa was my teacher at St. Bernadette's school. She was kind and nurturing, but wasn't afraid to tell you what you didn't want to hear-- or tell your folks. "David would do very well if he wasn't so busy showing off." If every kid could have a teacher like Mrs. Baxa, the world would be a much better place. God bless her. The Baxas and the Basilones were friends from the start of Springfield; both families among the first to move into their new homes in the then brand new suburb near Washington, DC. Phil was in my class at St. Bernadette's. The Baxas were particularly supportive when my father, Joe Basilone, died in 1968. Mrs. Baxa will be in my memory for her gracious, caring attitude and her aklmost limitless willingness to give to her friends and community.

I so fondly remember your mother.  She instilled in me a great love of history.  And she ensured that when we left St. B's we understood the concepts of dignity and respect and faithfulness.  I'll never forget her "your body is a temple" lesson and I'll always remember the ear pulling I got on my birthday.  She absolutely made in a positive difference in my life and the lives of countless other children. I was so enamored of her then, that I even took Margaret Mary as my Confirmation name to honor her.  Her legacy will live on through all her students.  I hope you find comfort in the coming days and weeks.  May God Bless you and your families.

Mrs. Baxa taught me and two of my siblings at St. Bernadette's. She was a legend and a favorite. I hope knowing the difference she made at that school for 30 years brings you comfort during your time of sadness.

Lucretia and Edmund, I remember meeting your family when you visited Gene and Elizabeth's farm in Kansas. Your mom was a favorite of my dear wife Dolores and was able to visit us a few years ago here in Fort Worth when she was visiting a niece, I believe. She was such a delightful person and I know you will miss her greatly. I send all of you my heartfelt condolences and prayers. May God rest her soul.

We had such a nice visit with Aunt Marge the summer before Phillip died.  She still had so much energy and life in her stories.  She was a real genteel lady and her flamboyance and love of life will be remembered for years to come!

 Mrs. Baxa was my brother's teachers so many years ago at St. Bernadette's.  I remember her most for all the work she did at the fall festivals and for the Mother's Day celebrations and May Day Crownings.  Lucretia, my prayers are for you and your family.
