Margaret Eugenie Newell Moore

Margaret “Peggy” Moore, age 87, widow of Carl Henry Moore, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mrs. Moore was born May 13, 1927 in Davidson County to Margaret “Duchess” and William Newell and spent much of her life in Old Hickory, TN.

Mrs. Moore was an avid craftswoman who’s weaving, knitting, beadwork and sewing were enjoyed by many at local events such as Dickens of a Christmas, Traveller’s Rest, Cannonsburg and Williamson County Fair where she could be found in period attire sharing her crafts with school children and adults alike. She also volunteered her time to Boy Scouts, 4-H and Parke Players in Delaware and Indiana.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband Carl, brother William and sisters Winifred and Jessie. She is survived by son Don (Cindy) Moore of Franklin and daughter Carol (Terry) Heiss of Grand Rapids, MI; sister Nancy Rhodes; grandsons, Corey and Chad (Racheal) Moore; granddaughters Kendra (Charlie) Wineman and Kattie (Chris) Ross; great-granddaughter, Rebekah Wineman and great-grandson Isaac Moore; sisters in-law, Edna Newell and Mary Moore.

Funeral service will be 12:00 pm Friday, September 19, 2014 at Hermitage Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be 4-8 pm Thursday, September 18, 2014 and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
