Carolyn was born in Cookeville, TN to Reba Wolfe Wyrick on December 23, 1944. She grew up in Livingston, TN and moved to Old Hickory when she married the young, dashing OB Stewart on June 28, 1963. The love OB and Carolyn shared spanned decades and they would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on June 28, 2018. She eventually worked for Bell South Directory Service for 18 years. At the time of her passing, Carolyn was a homemaker.
She fiercely loved Jesus Christ, her family, and her friends, and was a spirited lady with a big heart and a lot of love. She was the church mom and grandma and was known for fixing delicious covered dishes for various church functions. In fact, her Cherry Cheesecakes were famous. East Nashville Church of God of Prophecy did an annual bake sale fundraiser, and Carolyn’s cheesecakes always got the highest bid. She was also known for her peanut butter fudge and Hello Dollies at Christmas time. During her time at the East Nashville Church, Carolyn was in charge of the Easter Egg Hunt and made sure to have lots of prizes for the children who gathered the most eggs in each age group and for the golden egg finder. She never wanted a child to go home without something special, so she handed out chocolate rabbits to all the children who participated. She loved spending time at Hickory Hills Retreat and Conference Center, formerly Camp Hickory Hills, and enjoyed the Ladies Days there. She loved her granddaughter Amanda, and made sure she had her “mad money” for their shopping trips. Carolyn never met a stranger and had a gift for making people smile. She was also famous for “thinking” she told you something whether she had or not and you should have known what she told you!
Celebrating her life are her family and friends including her loving husband, O.B. Stewart; beloved daughter, Pam Parker (Don); dearly loved granddaughter, Amanda Davis (Zach); adored great-grandchildren, Parker Stevin and Layla Grace Davis; and her life-long friend, Geneva Carter. Carolyn is also survived by her husband’s siblings who were like her own: Don Stewart (Diana) and Julana (Eugene) Vaughn. She claimed them and she loved them.
