Omie "Dot" Steele

Omie (Dot) Louise Steele, age 87, went to be with our Lord on July 23, 2016.She is preceded in death by parents Dock and Omie Swindle, a son Ronnie Lee Broyles and daughter Tresha Ann Stevens. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Bobby Hughes Steele; four children, Cathie (Richard) Halfacre, Joe Steele, Rita (Billy) Maynard and Judy (Michael) Boatright, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. Dot was a wonderful Wife, Mother, Mammaw, and friend that will be truly missed by all. She was a loyal and dedicated Kroger Company employee for 31 years. Although she retired early due to health issues in 1976, she remained faithful to the Kroger family. She was loved dearly by her coworkers who she treated as her own family. She enjoyed cooking and fishing, but more importantly, spending time with family. One of her greatest joys was spending vacation time with extended family in Florida. She lived most of her life in Davidson and Wilson counties. She also had a second home in Port Orange, Florida for the past twenty years. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday and from 10:00 am - 11:00 am on Wednesday. Funeral Services will be private. The family would like to thank all the great people who have supported us through this journey of living with Dementia for 13 years, including but not limited to our extended family, friends and coworkers.
