I am saddened to hear of the passing of Pete. I never knew him personally only through his instructional dvds. I remember learning how to play Jim Croce's songs from the DVD. He will be missed. He was a gifted teacher and guitarist. Wish I could have met him in person. RIP Pete. 


I was so saddened to learn of Pete's passing. He was my son Scott's banjo teacher in Danville California in the 1970s. Scott was 2 months older than Pete and I lost Scott too, one year and five days before Pete. Erin you may remember having met Scott (Webber) at one of Pete's shows several years ago in Wheeling West Virginia. It made me smile that two Danville California boys were reunited in of all places, little Wheeling. I contacted Pete when Scott passed away and he sent me the kindest note. He reminded me that he and Scott had gone together to see an Arlo Guthrie concert in Oakland California and they sneaked in a recorder and taped the show. Pete, if you meet Scott wherever you are, please take care of him until I get there. I hope the two of you are playing music together and maybe my oldest son Randy is sitting in with you and my oldest daughter Cyndy is there as your audience. Rest well Pete. Each of you left us much too soon.

Pete, how very much I pray that you are safe in God's arms, and experiencing the glorious peace that eluded you these last few years on earth. This earthly life is not an easy one at times, and I'm sorry that your physical weariness won over. Thank you for all the times you moved me with your humor, your wisdom, and your poignancy. You touched this world, and left a beautiful impression. Prayers too, for Erin, your family and friends as they struggle with your loss. You are home at last.....Amen.

I've been to two guitar seminars that Pete instructed, and I chauffeured Pete and Erin around town when Pete performed in my city. As a guitarist, its all been said about him, and its all true. But, I'd like to remark about Pete the guy rather than Pete the guitarist. Pete was always friendly and approachable, seeming to be an easy going and happy-go-lucky kind of guy, in spite of the discomforts that he would have felt due to his health issues. Yet, Pete was always well prepared for whatever role he was taking, leaving nothing to chance. He was incredibly serious about teaching, yet he would joke and have fun in class. And when he said he would send you the tab, or anything else, you simply knew that he would. He always seemed to make the best of any situation. When I don't feel good and start slipping into the role of grumpy old man, I'll remember Pete and I'll try to be just like Pete.

Pete, Thank you for all of the wonderful and amazing guitar playing. You've been an inspiration and my best teacher. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and humor with so many guitar players.

Pete, not only was your music an inspiration but also your bravery and your tenacity in your fight against the odds. Thank you for the gift of your lessons.

The world has lost another angel. I will never forget when I first met you at the Opry House. God bless you and your family during this time of sorrow.  heaven has one heck of a band now.

Pete, you are gone too soon.  Your talents and wit were incredible.  I will treasure the times that we crossed paths and all the things I learned from you.  I even laughed at some of your jokes.  Thank you for all you are.  Rest in peace.  Erin, you have truly been Pete's second heart and second life.  As he said, live well.

Thank you Pete for inspiring others with your life and music. I will "Live well" the rest of my days thanks to you.

Pete, I didn't really know you but I sort of did through your instructional cds (Dan Fogelberg, John Denver, Jim Croce).  You helped me to become a better guitarist and showed me the things I did not know. Thank you and condolences to your family.

Knowing Pete for 20yrs was not enough I will deeply miss him, Pete could feel the fly as he lay it on the water and play a note at exactly the right time...a friend always.

Courage, selfless inspiration to the many Fans across the World, Thank You. I was also a patient at the Vanderbilt Voice Clinic, and I never met you, you have been a blessing to me. Rest In Peace my Friend.

Pete touched our hearts with his courage and talent.. He truly was and will continue to be an inspiration on living.   God Bless Him and Erin.. I know for sure now that they have a hellava band.

Pete showed us how to live and die with the dignity of a saint.  Erin, you and Pete were a perfect example of what love is.

You showed us all how to "Live Well" and were an inspiration to many - both musically and personally. How blessed I feel to have known you!

    My hero, Pete Huttlinger, is now playing his beautiful music for all the saints in heaven.  He'll be greatly missed by those that he left behind, but I'll see and hear him again, some great day.  God speed Pete and thanks for being such a tremendous blessing for all those lives that you touched during your earthly journey.  
     May God provide you with the strength and comfort that only He can, Erin. Pete loves you so much, and it was so very evident in his words and works.
