Revayne (Dyer) Furniss, age ninety, of Hermitage, Tennessee, passed away on August 20, 2025, at Hearthside Assisted Living, Lebanon, Tennessee. The fourth of six children, she was born on July 21, 1935, in Trousdale County, Tennessee. She graduated from Trousdale County High School in 1953 and, over the course of time, took college courses as well. At age eleven, she was saved during a service at Dixon's Creek Missionary Baptist Church, and she soon joined the church and was baptized. She later moved her membership to Madison Missionary Baptist Church in Madison, Tennessee. Over the years, she attended other churches, as well.
Revayne was interested in many facets of life. She held jobs that allowed her to visit several parts of the world, including Russia. She really enjoyed fellowship with her "Lunch Bunch", taking trips with them to various points of interest, including Alaska, Nova Scotia, Belize, Honduras, and many others. In addition to traveling, her special hobbies were cooking and flower gardening. Her primary job was as Administrative Assistant at the Methodist Board of Higher Learning in Nashville. She and her husband, Bob, later moved to California where she worked for an architectural firm, and, upon moving back to Tennessee, she worked in the Department of Health for the State of Tennessee.
Revayne will be remembered as a caring person who loved her family, and she had a special place in her heart for her nieces, nephews, their children, and their grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. A special thank you and love goes to all of the family members who were there to support her in one way or another during her time of need, and we especially recognize her niece, Kathy Henderson, for her special care and support during the latter part of Revayne's life.
Revayne is predeceased by her son, Michael Thomas Stewart, and his father, Thomas Edward Stewart; husband, Robert Edward Furniss; parents, William Arnett and Sallie (Gregory) Dyer; sisters, Ruth Watson and Joyce Wilburn; brothers, Rhea and Landus Dyer; and two nephews. She is survived by her brother, Colin Martin Dyer (Jean) of Nashville, and her stepson, Jon Furniss. She also is survived by six nieces, several great nieces and nephews, and their children.
Visitation will be Friday, August 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM and Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the Hermitage Funeral Home. Following Saturday's visitation, there will be a Celebration of Revayne's Life at 11:00 AM in the Tulip Grove Chapel at the funeral home with Elder Kenneth Massey officiating. Donnie Sheumaker, Andrew Keller, Keith Dickey, Tony Maynard, Avery Maynard, and Ronnie Marks will serve as Pallbearers. Jon Furniss and Jerry Bates will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Following the service, Revayne will be laid to rest in the Dixon Springs Cemetery, Smith County, Tennessee.
