Stan grew up living in many states until he moved to Old Hickory graduated from Dupont High School with the Class of 1964. Following high school, he began his working career as a Store Manager, a Salesman of Life and Health Insurance, and most recently, he was a Private Investigator and owned the Investigation Company, Loux & Smith, Inc.
Stan was a well-loved gentleman with many interests. He enjoyed the outdoors, singing, and hunting He loved to fish with his children and his brother. He was a collector of eagles, ducks, and walking canes.
Stan and his wife, Beverly, lived most of their married life in the Old Hickory area. Together, they have been long-time members of the Old Hickory Church of the Nazarene. Stan had a beautiful baritone voice, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the High School All-State Choir. Most often, he shared his gift of singing during church services, revival meetings, gospel concerts, weddings, and funerals. For several years, Centennial Park hosted Summer Concert series in which Stan participated by singing. He started acting in productions in high school and has played many roles in their local church productions. Stan loved God, his family, and his church. He loved well . . . was well-loved . . . and will be dearly missed.
Stan is preceded in death by his father, Donald Odell Smith; his mother, Beverly Elaine (Eskew) Smith; brother, Jeffrey Louis Smith, sister, Darlene Marie Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty-nine years, Beverly (Ritchey) Smith; son, Kevin Donald Smith of Arlington, TX; daughter, Kristi Ann Smith Dozier (Tony); brother, Norman Dennis Smith (Gracie); sister, Billie Smith Ferrell (Cotton); grandchildren Jessica Ann Danache (Sam), Keely Shaye Naylor (Gary), Anna Beth Smith, Allie Naomi Smith, Andrew Donald Smith; and great grandchildren, Leonardo Danache and Lincoln Danache.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends at Hermitage Funeral Home on Thursday, May 23, from 5pm – 8pm, and on Friday, May 24, from 10am – 12pm. A Celebration of Life will begin at 12pm in the Tulip Grove Chapel at Hermitage Funeral Home. Following the service, Stan will be laid to rest in the Garden of Everlasting Life at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
