Tammi G. Hessey was born at Nashville Baptist Hospital on December 29, 1959 to her beloved parents, Dannie M. Hessey JR. and Peggy Hurt Hessey, and raised in Hermitage, Tennessee, . Tammi passed away early Thursday morning on March 5, 2026, surrounded by family, at the age of 66. She spent most of her life living at the family farm where she grew up; the farm was deeply important to her and helped shape her to be the hard-working, resilient, selfless, and kind-hearted woman so many came to know and love.
Tammi’s working life reflected her steady determination and versatility. She worked in auto parts distribution, television assembly, and medical supply warehouses. She was especially proud to be a certified medical transcriber, and worked for the TN State Appeals Court for a number of years.
Tammi followed love to Alabama, where she soon welcomed her baby boy and from that moment, devoted the rest of her life to being a loving and dedicated mother. As her son Bryan remembers, Tammi was a fiercely dedicated and loving single mother who loved unconditionally and loved hard—someone with the patience of a saint and a fiery personality to balance her out. Family was the most important thing to her, and her love and pride for her grandchildren knew no bounds.
Tammi found joy in the simple, meaningful pleasures of life. She was always there for her grandchildren’s dance recitals and sports games, and was her family’s number one supporter. She loved the beach and went every chance she could get. She was known for her love of flowers and for always having more than she knew what to do with; gardening was her passion.
Her family remembers her with a smile for being notoriously late to every appointment or event, and joke that that gene was passed down to her son. She also had a deep love for cooking and for keeping the tradition of Sunday family dinners. Tammi loved to have company and never wanted to eat alone. She enjoyed a good burger and milkshake, and shopping was another favorite hobby.
Tammi was preceded in death by her father, Dannie M. Hessey JR.; her mother, Peggy Hurt Hessey; and her sister, Tangi Kay Hessey. She is survived by her son, Bryan Ollis (Jennifer); her granddaughter, Faith Goncalves (Mark); and her grandsons, Jacob Daniel Ollis and Logan Ollis.
The family would like to extend their thanks during this difficult time for all the support from friends and the community.
Tammi will be remembered for her capacity for love, her gentleness and strength, and for all the lives she touched.
