Tanyia Lee Waynick, a beloved resident of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, at the age of 64, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 30, 1961, and was cherished by her family and friends.
Tanyia was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated from McGavock High School. She dedicated many years as a stay-at-home mom before eventually working as a secretary at schools for the Davidson County Metropolitan School Board.
She was married to her loving husband, Ed, for thirty-five wonderful years. Tanyia is survived by her mother, Camilla (Bell) Leas, her son James Shaw (Jamie), her daughter Adrianna Waynick, her son Joseph Waynick and his wife Katie, and her grandchildren Jared Hoffman, Jordon Shaw, Aiden Waynick, Presley Waynick, and Zoey Waynick. She also leaves behind her sisters, Nancy Hughes, Judy Roark, and Camie Conard, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Tanyia was predeceased by her father, Robert Leas.
Tanyia had a passion for gardening, reading, and enjoyed horror movies. She loved the outdoors, animals and treasured her time tanning, taking trips to the beach, and enjoying moments in the pool.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home, located at 535 Shute Lane, Old Hickory, TN 37138, on January 14, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and on January 15, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A celebration of Tanyia's life will follow on January 15, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the Tulip Grove Room at the same venue.
