Eleanor Rickel, of Old Lyme, died on October 6 at her home. Born in Trumbull, CT in 1929, Eleanor and her late husband, George, moved from Stamford to Old Lyme in 1977. She was active in the Thames River Family Program, the Haitian Health Foundation, the New Life Prison Ministry and the Norwich Soup Kitchen. She and George were avid golfers and former members of Black Hall Golf Club. She was a faithful parishioner of Christ The King Church.
Eleanor is survived by her children Mimi Little, of Port Republic, MD, Penelope Rickel, of Boylston, MA, Pamela Rickel, of New York City, Paul Rickel, of South Salem, NY and her beloved grandchildren Elsie, Jake, Sam and Will and her great-granddaughter Del.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 4PM until 7PM at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Beckwith Ln., Old Lyme, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:30 AM in Christ the King Church, 1 McCurdy Rd., Old Lyme, CT 06371. Burial will follow in Duck River Cemetery, Old Lyme.
In lieu of flowers, Eleanor’s family ask that donations be made to the Haitian Health Foundation, 97 Sherman St., Norwich, CT 06360 or Thames River Family Program, 1 Thames River Pl., Norwich, CT 06360.
