Helen Elizabeth Krieble

Helen Elizabeth Krieble, 78, died peacefully at her home in Old Lyme, CT on Saturday June 26th, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Born in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Nancy B. Krieble.

She graduated from The Oxford School in Hartford and Radcliffe College, received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and did her PhD work at Johns Hopkins University. She served as the President of the Vernon K. Krieble Foundation and founded The Connecticut Gallery, The Gallery at 100 Pearl (bothspecializing in Connecticut Impressionist paintings), High Prairie Farms in Parker Colorado, andThe Colorado Horse Park. Helen was proud to serve as a trustee for the Free Congress Foundation,The Wadsworth Atheneum, The Hartford Art school where she also served as President and Regent of the University, The Florence Griswold Museum where she also served as Chair of the Collections Committee, and The Leadership Program of the Rockies.

Her family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her children and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Anna Fusscas of Old Lyme, Amanda Strain of Deep River and Wellington, FL, Fred and Kim Krieble of West Hartford; ten grandchildren; and her Irish Jack Russell Maggie.

A patriot and activist, she was influential in shaping thought and policy in the areas of Defense, Immigration Reform, Civics, Tax Reform, and Education. She hosted a radio series called “The Lense of Liberty”, lectured extensively, and published Op-Eds nationwide providing a unique view of modern political and social issues.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Helen Krieble Acquisition Fund For Sculpture at The Florence Griswold Museum, 96 Lyme St., Old Lyme, CT 06371.
