John Richard Urbowicz

Mr. Urbowicz born February 13, 1931 in Seaford, NY, the son of William and Antonina Urbowicz. He honorably served in the US Army. He married on May 21, 1955 to Jean Nagy. They moved to Old Lyme with their 6 children and spent many loving years together.

He worked for NY Bell and then Southern New England Telephone, retiring in 1982 after 31 years of service. He then went on to be proud owner of Saybrook Polyclean and Tuxis Laudromat until fully retiring in 1986.

He enjoyed building houses, lobstering, fishing, and spending happy times with all of his family. He will truly be missed.

Mr. Urbowicz was a loyal member of Christ the King Church, and VFW. He volunteered for meals on wheels and really enjoyed the fun times there.

Mr. Urbowicz is survived by five sons: John P. Urbowicz and wife Prapa of Hartford, Jeffery J. Urbowicz and wife Catherine of MN, Brian M. Urbowicz of Old Lyme, Warren J. Urbowicz of East Lyme, Steven R. Urbowicz and wife Vicki of Old Lyme, daughter Regina M. and husband Stephen Nagle of Cheshire, sister Caroline Hughes of NY, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 11:00am in Christ the King Church, 1 McCurdy Rd., Old Lyme, CT. Interment will immediately follow in Duck River Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 4:00 until 6:00pm in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Beckwith Ln., Old Lyme, CT.
