Linda L. Evankow

Linda L. Evankow, 69 of Lyme, CT died unexpectedly at home on Sunday, December 6, 2020. She was the beloved wife of Marc S. Evankow, mother of Jennie Enman of Old Lyme and Marc Evankow Jr. of Lyme and best Nan to her grandson, Cordsen Enman.

Linda was born on January 17, 1951 in New London, CT to the late Joseph and Marie Trippconey of Westbrook, CT. She attended grammar school in St. Petersburg, FL and Westbrook, CT and graduated from Westbrook High School as a member of the class of 1969.

She began her professional career at Chesebrough-Ponds, then set her sights on real estate which she pursued for more than 10 years. Linda married Marc Evankow on September 8, 1985 and her greatest joy was entertaining family & friends while maintaining home life on the hill in Lyme.

Linda loved any opportunity to take a trip anywhere by boat, plane, train or automobile. Either by herself or with her son, she enjoyed a stay of a few nights anywhere from Chicago to Texas, for the new experiences and surroundings. As a wonderful Nana, she shared the gift of travel with her daughter and grandson adventuring to Canada, Bermuda & Florida. Most recently she and Marc traveled together far and wide to the UK, Europe, the Mediterranean, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Thailand, & China, making long-lasting friendships along the way.

The loss of Linda will be felt by all with whom she made the effort to maintain meaningful connections, whether over lunch or over decades. Linda would ask each of us upset by the suddenness of her passing to recognize the blessing which was the ease of it. The greatest tribute to Linda’s memory which can be undertaken by those to whom she meant so much will be to find time and affection for one another even in her absence. No one knew the value of an invitation to share a meal so well as Linda. The thoughtfulness embodied in the sharing of a good book, a genuine compliment, an earnest concern and the willingness to say “yes, let’s” will be Linda’s legacy.

Linda is survived by her husband Marc S. Evankow and her children Jennie Enman and Marc Evankow Jr.; her son-in-law Brett Enman and grandson Cordsen Enman; her sisters Donna Hale of Arizona, Debbie Trippconey of Old Saybrook, CT and Louise Young of Clinton, CT. She is predeceased by her brother Joseph Trippconey, III. She leaves many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
