She was born on May 4, 1943, in Meriden, the daughter of Dr. Edward R. Smith, and Alta Granger Roberts.
Linda helped her husband with their taxidermy business, went to school for nursing and worked at Laysville hardware. She was commonly referred to as “The Snake Lady” by friends and family. However, she wasn’t a fan of snakes at first and was in fact was terrified of them. She had to overcome her fear when her son Ernie and his friends would always bring snakes back to the house. One day when one of Ernie’s friends Steve was bitten by a copperhead, she had to step up and bring him to the hospital. Linda would later go on to write her book “The Snakes Of New England” , in which Steve went on to help and do illustrations for in assistance.
The Irises outside of her home was another thing that she enjoyed taking care of, her garden was always her pride and joy. Every opportunity she would get, she would be outside. Caring for the garden, hiking in the woods, skiing and kayaking on the lake, watching the animals do their thing. She was a nature woman through and through to say the very least.
Linda is survived by her son Ernest Krulikowski, Jr., and his wife Amy of Old Lyme and her grand children Kyle Krulikowski of Coventry and Savannah Krulikowski of Old Lyme, her Brother Edward and wife Seel Smith of Vermont, her brother Arthur and wife Lees Smith of South Carolina Her sister Alita and her husband John Gudelski of Connecticut, her brother Richard and wife Laura Smith of Vermont, and her Step-sister Susan and her husband Jeremy Vixon-Smith of Maine, , and. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Charlie Smith.
The Family will be have the calling hours at a date to be determined. A private graveside service will be held at Duck River Cemetery, Old Lyme.
