

He was born on November 16, 1923, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the son of Lewis and Margaret (Clarke) McLean.
Mr. McLean lived most of his life in Old Lyme and was a graduate of Old Lyme High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, Pacific Theater and in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Korean War. He worked for Connecticut Light and Power for thirty-three years retiring in 1985. After his retirement he served for several years as the Sexton to the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme. He was a former member of the Old Lyme Chamber of Commerce, the American Field Service Old Lyme Chapter and a member of the Free Masons Pythagoras Lodge 43. Mr. McLean was a former member of the Old Lyme Beach Club and a member of Black Hall Club. He enjoyed spending his winters in Naples, Florida.
He is survived by his sister, Jean McLean of Old Lyme; his daughters, Lizabeth Haas and her husband, William, of Chappaqua, New York, and Marcia McLean and her husband, Peter Lasusa of New York, New York; and his grandchildren William, Katherine, and Matthew Haas and Timothy and Elizabeth Lasusa.
He was predeceased in July by his wife of sixty years, Beatrice Fox McLean.
Calling hours will be held at Fulton Theroux Funeral Home in Old Lyme on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 3 PM to 5 PM. A private service will be held at a later date.
