Mrs. Garguilo was born on Dec. 7, 1923, in Lewiston, Maine, the daughter of John and Evelyn (Emily)Houston. She married Anthony Garguilo in Brooklyn, N.Y. on March 25, 1949. He predeceased her in 1973.
"Miss Bonnie" was employed for over 20 years as a chef in Center School in Old Lyme. Bonnie was raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was proud of her Brooklyn heritage. She and her husband, "Sonny", loved to dance and did so competitively in their younger days. Bonnie was a wonderful cook and she loved her cottage on Rogers Lake.
Bonnie will be remembered for her generosity and her great sense of humor. She was a tiny woman with an enormous heart and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Mrs. Garguilo is survived by her son, Larry Garguilo and his wife, Bonnie; her grandchildren, Heather Garguilo, Megan Garguilo, and Kit Kocielo; her daughter-in-law, Susan Kocielo; several nieces and nephews; and two great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her son, Richard Kocielo; and daughter-in-law, Joli Kocielo.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Beckwith Lane, Old Lyme. Interment will follow in Duck River Cemetery.
