

Alfred T.Garvey born - Springfield Mass. 8/10/28 to Andrew T. and Mary Emma Lynch Garvey He attended St. Anselm's college and retired from General Dynamics/Electric boat after 32 years. Some of which were spent in Idaho Falls, Idaho and Saratoga, Springs NY. furnishing and refueling naval nuclear reactors. He loved the outdoors, was an avid fisherman and lobsterman. He spent many days fly fishing for trout in various states including California, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, NY and all the New England states. He loved Long Island Sound, Town Beach and the town of Old Saybrook. He is predeceased by his son Paul and daughter Lynda and siblings Margaret, Thomas, Andrew, Edward and Robert. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Joanne Tanguay Garvey of Old Saybrook, daughters Nancy Murphy and her husband Kevin of Old Lyme, Luann Garvey-Jenkins and her husband Dennis of Rancho Cordova Ca., Mary Jo Le Quin and her husband Thomas of North Branford, Kimberly Garvey-Paulick and her husband William of Mountain View Ca., Kelley Garvey-Honer and her husband Robert of Charlotte North Carolina and son Martin Garvey and his wife Heather of Mountain View, Ca. and eleven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Burial is at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. In celebration of Alfred's life there will be a memorial mass held on July 8,2013 at St. Marks Church in Westbrook Ct. with a gathering to follow at the Pavillion at Saybrook Point. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Old Saybrook Soup Kitchen.
